The idea for F3 started when a 6th grade class' homework assignment was to complete a survey and encourage discussion between students and parents. After the project was completed, it was found that a fair number of students did not have a good time set aside to talk to their parents on a regular basis. Thus F3 was born- an evening dedicated to communication and 'getting-to-know-you'.
First up, the 6th graders! The evening began with a survey taken by both student and parent and cross-matched to see who knew each other best! The winners: David Kim and Jasmine Koo. The prize, to encourage further scheduled family time, was gift cards to YogurtLand! The group was then split into families and were given topics of discussion and private time to talk about different issues ranging from the basic and every-day to the more complex and thought-provoking. The session was hosted by Pastor Clark, aided by Teacher Eric for sound and AV and Teacher Ann made the event more cozy by providing and serving fruit and special GSPC F3 cupcakes. The evening ended in a memorable way when the families were guided in prayers with and for each other. Thanks also to the 7th and 8th grade teachers who took the 7th and 8th graders out to watch "Night at the Museum 2"...
Next up, the 7th and 8th graders. While the 6th graders enjoyed themselves at Knott's Berry Farm, the 7th and 8th graders were given the opportunity to spend time learning more about their parents and vice versa. This was a much larger group and discussions were flowing out of every corner of the Senior High Chapel (kindly loaned out by Pastor David and the high school students)... again an excellent evening of family sharing. Thank you for making this (hopefully annual) event a blessing to all!
