Genesis (beginning sign: "Creation") to Malachi (ending sign: "Christ"- indicating the join to the New Testament) A big representation of GSJHM kids and staff were privileged enough to attend a presentation of Walk Thru' the Old Testament at Oceanside Community Church in El Segundo, CA. Everyone came bright and early at 7 a.m. to jump into the vans and go but the evil one tried to thwart us from leaving by stalling the biggest van we had, packed with all the 6th grade boys. Fortunately for us, God is ALWAYS IN CONTROL and took care of the situation, giving us the help of T.Steve's wife, T.Barbara who came to our rescue taking half of the boys while PC borrowed another van and took the other half. We were all in attendance from the very beginning of the presentation and were not even late! The day was then spent learning the motions to the 77 key people, places and things connected with the 39 books of the OT. Kudos especially to the kids who behaved exceptionally well and were obedient and enthusiastic with their learning though some of the lecture was long and very detailed. Staff and kids were all ready to bring back the actions and teach their peers during the up-coming Winter Program!!!! Spread the Word, guys! Spread the Word!!!

This past year (2009), 16 students and 6 staff members completed the Bible-in-a-year goal and received awards at the 3rd service! It was such an encouragement to stand before our parents and families and accept our certificate of achievement given to us by Senior Pastor Ko. We were indeed proud of our collective accomplishments but know that everything was due to God's help throughout the year. We're excited to start the new 2010 year and want to have more of our Junior High Group represented at the end of it. There are even 5th graders (upcoming 6th graders) who have taken up the challenge and we're praying that they will finish strong and complete the task with us. Encourage one another, brothers and sister-in-Christ! Whole families are reading the Bible together because of the inspiration that you have given to them and siblings are encouraging one another to read His Word. All glory to God! If you see these 5th graders, please encourage them to keep up with their Bible reading!!!!
This year's Winter Program focused on money and how God instructs that we view it and use it. There were a total of 4 sessions with activities associated with money spending, saving and budgeting. The whole group viewed a video by Dave Ramsey and then split into grade levels to discuss what was mentioned during the video. The first evening, PC whipped out the debut of Campfire-in-a-Can and we grilled 'lil Smokies by the firelight and ate it with buttermilk bread. The next day (Saturday) was a full day of sessions but it started early with Early Morning Prayer joining the adults in service and then to a breakfast of Egg Salad Sandwiches. It was followed by Materialism Maze which had stations that made each participant think about their values, choices and self-worth. During this time, those not involved in the maze taught and learned the Walk Thru' the Bible Old Testament actions. God was good... though the Dave Ramsey series didn't get there on time for the Friday evening sessions, it did in time for the maze so the booklets were used by all during the maze and then the group put on their green T-shirts and away they went! Dinner was kindly sponsored by the PTA moms (thank you Moms!!!) Evening sessions ended with class photos... and cute ones at that! Till next year... live like no one else so that later we can live like no one else...!!!
