Teachers started the new academic year off with a great start- a teachers' meeting where we learned more on teaching skills from Howard Hendricks and then a dinner at the Shin household. We were blessed to have the biggest and most complete turnout ever- all 8 staff members along with 2 spouses and 2 children were able to join us! It was definitely a noisy happy bunch of people! Much thanks to Angela Shin's mother and father for cooking up some delicious kalbi with all the trimmings... we had a blast!

The new academic year at GSJHM started with a pledge of servanthood, humility and love by the staff as the teachers washed the feet of their students this last Friday. As the waiting students lined up, they in turn prayed over each other. The NCO's of the first Discipleship Group of this last year lent a hand in refilling the buckets and helping to wipe the feet of peers as each student was seated, his or her feet washed and prayed over and then wiped dry. The NCO's feet were then washed, prayed over and dried by PC who also did likewise with the teachers and deacon of Junior High. The staff then insisted on washing and praying over PC. It was a great time of praying for each other to strengthen and bless us as we go forward in the ministry. After being prayed over, each student quietly put their shoes back on and entered the junior high chapel. The chapel had been arranged with 22 chairs lining the walls of the room and each chair had a verse or passage for meditation and three candles representing the Trinity lighting it. Each verse depicted different thoughts on true love for one another, true service towards each other, humility and servanthood. After a time of meditation, Teacher Eric led the group in group prayer for one another, especially those that did not know each other very well. All in all, it was a good time of bonding and praying for and with one another and a contemplative start to the year.
We had a fair turn out for our first PTA meeting for the 2009-2010 school year. After D.Park prayed and introduced the teachers, P.Clark went through the jr. high ministry's purpose and activities to reinforce the purpose. Following that, Jasmine Koo's mother gave a testimony on her daughter's change and growth through the previous year's Discipleship class. Her mom shared how Jasmine's regular reading of the Bible challenged her to read Bible as well. We were very touched, as we were reminded again of what is truly important in this lifetime. After P.C's closing prayer, D.Park encouraged parents to attend the parent seminar sponsored by GSPC's Ed. Department. They invited Harvard Professor Dr. Josephine Kim to come speak to parents and children Friday, Sept. 18 and Saturday Sept. 19.
