On the day of the kayaking, NCOs first came to discipleship training and spent the morning catching up with their homework so that they would not have to 'work on a Sunday'. At 11 a.m., T. Eric came and we headed down toward Sunset Beach, stopping for some vietnamese sandwiches and boba on the way.
It was a gorgeous day but slightly misty as we headed into the water- 2 3-man kayaks of J.E.S.- Jacob, T.Eric and Sabrina in one, Jasmine, Eugene and T.Sharon in another- and a 2-man kayak- PC and Angela. The afternoon started off smoothly with a stop at a little beach and playing in the water ensued.
However, God had a training plan for us, unlike anything we expected... on of our boats sank enough that T.Eric, Jacob, and Sabrina flipped over and into the water! The rest of us worked together as Search and Rescue in the fog covered bay toward the end of the day.
We ended the tiring evening with a trip to a Korean restaurant and tiredly and hungrily ate our way through some good warm food.
Praise God for His protection!
