Last scenes from the GSJHM Summer Retreat 2011- See you next year! =D Take a look at the cool games that were invented for us... =D Second full day of obstacle-course-madness! Enjoy the craziness! Day Two- afternoon session... T.Lizzy and T.Barbara's group experienced what it was like to work together as a team for a common goal. They had to learn communication (or silent listening!) skills, give-and-take, leadership and following and brainstorming to solve puzzles, all while trying to transport yellow cups of 'anti-venom'. While these two groups were problem-solving, T.Eric and T.Steve's groups were enjoying an afternoon of ziplining! The third day afternoon, the teams were switched and T.Steve and T.Eric's groups got to experience the same team building rope's course that the other two teams completed the day before. Problems included a teeter-totter see-saw problem: the group had to get up on the platform, have everyone on the platform, and then (in some cases) have to descend again with the last person up being the first person off the platform. Another problem included getting over a very smooth, very slippery log secured up high between two trees. The third problem included a Tarzan rope problem that involved getting a rope down first (one group jumped between platforms, another threw shoes, while another secured shoes TOGETHER to lasso the rope down) before jumping between platforms, all the while having to keep at least one foot on a platform at any given time. The teams had to learn how to listen to directions, how to follow directions and all while trying to get their 'anti-venom' to the other side without spilling too much of it. The last activity all four teams had to complete was transferring their team members between the spaces in a giant 'spider web', each space only able to be used once. The team had to figure out how to transfer members, who could fit into which space, how to balance strength to be able to carry their team members and how to allot the different spaces so everyone could make it across safely. This time, Team T.Barbara and T.Lizzy got to experience the heights of ziplining and cool off at the pool! Games games games! Trust PC to come up with some exciting and tiring games to make us run, laugh and work together!
Breakfast time- nomnomnomnom... First full day at Palomar Christian Conference Center started off with a bang! We collected our Summer Retreat t-shirts and took group photos... much thanks to T.Sarah Lee (from High School ministry) and Deacon Park for the printing of these lovely shirts! We're here! All 46 of us are pumped and ready to get to know God and each other better! This year's theme: Where Are You Heading?- Theme Verse Proverbs 4:11-27. Everyone is excited with their new living quarters and our worship hall fits everyone snugly.
