Friday, March 19, we left church for about a 5 hour drive (after stopping dinner at Denny's, we arrived at our host, Chaplain Walker's home) to get to about 25 minutes outside of Vandenberg Air Force Base. We reviewed our Walk Thru the Bible Old Testament and tried to get to sleep immediately. (story continues below pictures) The next morning we had to wake up early because C haplain Walker had to set up the Chapel and bring donuts. So once we got to the base, we decided to be "tourists" and take some pictures.... And then the all-day seminar began. The NT also had 77 key words and phrases. It traces the history of the New Testament more than anything else (Matthew - Acts). It also gives the main ideas and keywords of the books of the New Testament. I thought this was a great picture of our group. From the left: t.sharon, sabrina 7th, rebecca 6th, p.clark (back), joshua 6th (front), charis 8th, jason 8th, eugene 7th. We couldn't bring everyone, so we wanted the kids to be representative of their grade level. People thought we were one family coming to learn ... I guess we do look like that. At the end of the seminar, the kids wanted so bad to stop by the coast. Below are pictures of eugene (for some reason, he really liked to stick his head out while the wind blew straight in his face). Jason's mouth is open because each of them were reviewing the 77 words & phrases th We stopped by Goleta Beach County Park in Santa Barbara. We couldn't stay too long, but we walked down the pier and took some pictures. Judging from the squinty faces, it was sunny. The end of the pier had no railing. We were going to feed the whale. And I was exhausted. On the way back to church, we had to stop by for dinner. I couldn't believe eugene put a 4x4 away (In&Out) and then got ANOTHER hamburger on top of that!!!

I apologize for being so slack on updating the blog... it's been nearly a month and a half since we had our last Teachers' Meeting and dinner at Rebecca's House and I'm only now uploading the photos!
It was an incredible evening and one that we thoroughly enjoyed... we were invited to Rebecca's house and the family totally put in so much effort to make it one to remember! There was a truly delicious spread of food (including fiery chicken wings and delicate bok choi salad) for us to enjoy (and we did in multiple rounds!) and then we had something we've never had before... a parent (and an elder!)- Rebecca's dad, Elder Lim, join us in playing UNO with all the kids and some of the teachers! =) It was, indeed, more fun to have him involved and everybody was really enjoying themselves! In the end, Rebecca gave us a piano performance to top the excellent evening off! Thank you again to Rebecca and especially her mother (with her amazing cooking) and her father (for getting down and playing with us!) for their hospitality and gracious service to the teachers... we had a blast! |
